The ever-popular Shall We Dance Ballroom and Latin American showcase – now in its 20th year - presents its comprehensive annual dance extravaganza which features 100 of the region’s most exciting dancers as well as top award-winning industry professionals, in the Playhouse Opera for a short season from 9 - 17 September.

The featured couples this year were Latin Couple Darren Hammond and Kaylee Brown - Gauteng - SA Champions and Ballroom couple Shall We Dance darlings, Devon Snell and Meagan Lottering from Cape Town who are SA Ballroom Champions.

Shall We Dance once more delighted audiences with its carefully-chosen eclectic mix of quality dance – all with an underlying ballroom and Latin American theme. Featured dances included Ballroom and Latin American dancing; belly dancing, hip-hop; Irish, modern; ballet; tap; line dancing, Spanish, and American smooth.

The annual showcase started in 1991. Shall We Dance is probably the longest annual production in Durban. It was presented by the Playhouse Company in association with the South African Dance Teachers’ Association. It is directed by tireless dance activists, Neville Letard and Caryl Cusens.

The MC was once again Damon Beard and guest artiste was illusionist, Ricki Gray.

An eclectic range of music was used in the show – everything from Burlesque by Cher; On the Floor by Jennifer Lopez / Pit Bull; Dream of You - Michael Buble and In a moment like this by Jay and Leanie May.
